On Monday, Tim completed his 10 day course of radiation. Over the past few days, he's had more nausea and no appetite, likely due to the radiation. The side effects from radiation typically show up 2-3 weeks after the last treatment. Yesterday, his oncologist recommended having a CT scan (scheduled for March 12) to assess the status of his cancer and whether the radiation had any affect. He continues to have ascites (stomach bloating), and next week he'll decide whether or not to have his stomach tapped to drain 4-6 pounds of liquid. It's possible that the ascites will resolve on its own, but it makes him very uncomfortable and is likely contributing to his lack of appetite.
Paul continues to slowly climb out of his post-transplant abyss, with intermittent bouts of nausea and fatigue. As in Tim's case, Paul's neuropathy in his feet hasn't changed since his early chemo treatments and is likely permanent. So far, the neuropathy isn't painful for either of us, but we have constant numbness and tingling.
Because we've both lost weight and don't have much body fat, we often feel cold. Even though we're in California, it's been pretty cold outside (down to the upper 30's at night). We're wearing parkas, hats and gloves in our house -- even though our thermostat is set at 73.
Blue Poppy (Meconopsis sp.) Alaska Botanical Garden. This was one of our 2017 trips that we packed in prior to Paul's transplant. We're so glad we got the chance!
